Gaggia Espresso Machines
Gaggia are one of the World's best known manufacturers of espresso machines and for good reason; as it was their founder, Achille Gaggia, who gave birth to the modern day espresso machine. His simple idea of adding a spring to the hand-pulled lever (found on espresso machines of that day) meant that operators could apply much more pressure when brewing. Espressos could now be made quicker and for the first-time ever had a crema.
Founded in 1947, Gaggia initially produced machines for commercial use. However, by 1977, the first machines for home use rolled off the production line. Gaggia machines are still to this day manufactured in Milan at the Robecco sul Naviglio factory.
