Gaggia Espresso Machines & Coffee Grinders

Gaggia are one of the World's best known manufacturers of espresso machines and for good reason; as it was their founder, Achille Gaggia, who gave birth to the modern day espresso machine. His simple idea of adding a spring to the hand-pulled lever (found on espresso machines of that day) meant that operators could apply much more pressure when brewing. Espressos could now be made quicker and for the first-time ever had a crema.

Founded in 1947, Gaggia initially produced espresso machines for commercial use. However, by 1977, the first machines for home use rolled off the production line.

Gaggia are also well known for their coffee grinders. After all, an espresso machine isn’t much use without a grinder. Gaggia are one of the few companies that test every single grinder, to check they have been correctly calibrated, before leaving their factory in Milan. It's this high level of quality control that's helped earn them their reputation.
