For use in cleaning any espresso machine fitted with a solenoid valve. The disc allows you to wash out any coffee residue from around the grouphead by performing a process known as 'backflushing'.

Rather then going to the expense of buying a special blank basket, this rubber backflush disc simply sits inside your existing single or double filter basket.

When and How to Backflush an Espresso Machine

Backflushing should be performed after every use i.e. when you've finished using your espresso machine for that day - not after making each and every espresso.

Simply place the rubber disc inside either a single or double filter basket and attach the portafilter to your machine. Turn on the pump for 10 seconds. Now remove the portafilter and inspect the water remaining in the basket. On the first backflush you'll notice that the water is a little muddied with grounds floating in it. Dispose of this water and rinse the basket and disc under the tap before repeating the process. Continue backflushing until the water in the basket comes out clear.
