Like Ascaso's commercial models, the I-Steel is fitted with hardened steel conical burr grinding discs. Conical burr grinders have the advantage over other types of grinders as they produces a much more consistent size of coffee grounds. Consistent grinds are key to an even extraction of flavours. « Doser-less
The I-Steel is a doser-less grinder. This means you can grind coffee directly into your: portafilter, cafetiere, or coffee container; so you save time on cleaning.
The I-Steel is fitted with a handy portafilter guide to help postion it under the chute. This guide can be removed, so its not in the way if you wish to grind into other containers.

The I-Steel has an infinite number of grind settings and so can be finely adjusted to find the 'sweet spot' for your chosen brewing method.
As there are an infinite number of settings there are no markings to indicate what the grinder is set to. This can be a problem if you're planning to use the grinder with a number of different brewing methods as it will be difficult to find your way back from one setting to another.
